Position Summary: 

Incumbent is responsible for administration, development and staffing of assigned clinic. Coordinates and schedules admitting personnel including but not limited to AWs, SAW, and PAWs. In conjunction with manager, responsible for interviewing, hiring, disciplinary action and termination according to UCI policies and procedures. Trains, orients and provides in-service for front office staff. Monitors and directs the collection of productivity and other statistical information. Responsible for coordinating payroll, computer training, quality assurance and human resources issues for front office staff. Provides oversight for authorization and surgery scheduling and is able to provide additional help as needed.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $21.68   Midpoint  $33.00   Maximum  $44.33


Required Qualifications:

Ability to act independently to solve problems and develop recommendations for approval

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Demonstrated ability to interpret health plan benefit packages and make benefit determinations

Demonstrated experience and thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and database applications

Demonstrated leadership skills to supervise and motivate staff

Excellent organizational and planning skills and ability to manage multiple activities and varied deadlines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT / HCPCS Medical Coding

Minimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billing

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties


Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese

Knowledge of Joint Commission requirements

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Knowledge of all cardiology practices ,services offered, invasive & non-invasive procedures (interventional & diagnostic cath, electrophysiology, atrial fibrillation ablation, cardioversion,  various forms of stress testing, cardiac ultrasound, heart rhythm assessment testing, etc

Strong knowledge of UCI and outside payor authorization and scheduling policies and processes
