Position Summary: 

The incumbent is responsible for maintaining network connectivity and security of the UC Irvine Medical Center's wired and wireless networks.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $26.15   Midpoint  $39.89   Maximum  $53.64


Required Qualifications:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and/or combination of education and equivalent work experience

Basic understanding of DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, and WINS

Basic understanding of ITIL principles

Demonstrated skill to work independently and to prioritize and manage a relative number of simultaneous requests and to work on tasks which may not be clearly defined

Demonstrated technical ability to install, configure and maintain a Windows operating systems environment including the Office application suite

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience working in Network Engineering (Routers, Switches, Wireless Controllers, Load Balancers, or Firewalls)

Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols

Knowledge of operating system internals, file systems, functions of hardware components, and how hardware and software components work together to form a computer system

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Previous experience working with Cisco systems (Chassis Based 6509 Switches, Cisco 3750 Series Switches, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Cisco Light Weight Access Protocol Based Access Points, Cisco Works, and / or Cisco ACS)


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using Cisco ACE 4710 Load Balancer

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Knowledge of medical and academic industry structures

Knowledge of network authentication controls and methods
